Slovakkia/ Slovakia🇾🇰

Slovakkia on super ilus. Üks alahinnatumaid kohti Euroopas ma ĂŒtleks.
Aga alustades meie Slovakkia seiklustest, siis viimane auto, kes meid Krakowi juurest peale vĂ”ttis osutas meile jĂ€lle teene ning viis meid Poola-Slovakkia piiripunktini, kus valitses TÜHJUS. Esiteks asusime me peaaegu peadpidi pilvedes, kuna olime Tatra mĂ€gedes, seal oli pĂ€ris kĂŒlm, niiske ja autosid liikus super vĂ€he.
See on koht, kuhu tahaks kindlasti kunagi lauatama vĂ”i suusatama tulla.

Slovakia is a hidden gem of Europe and one of the most underrated places here.
As I finished my last post then we got dropped off jn a border of Poland and Slovakia, which was high up in the Tatra mountains. Our heads were pretty much in clouds, it was damp, cold, we were hangovered and there was hardly any traffic up there. So the situation looked not great😁
We were only about 30km from our next destination, but we got there eventually with 4 different cars. Our next stop was a little town called Poprad, which was a small place on the bottom of Tatra mountains. This whole area is so beautiful  with the most idyllic little ski villages. I would love to come back here one day for a ski or snowboard holiday, I reckon this place is even more amazing during the winter.
We stayed there for 2 nights and on our first full day we took a train up to one of the villages and a cable car to the mountains. The views from there were amazing. We were lucky and got a nice and sunny day as well. On the seond day we went to the local aquapark and spent the afternoon by the pool and swimming, which was great since it was 35 degrees outside. In the afternoon we made our way back to the road and were planning to go to Bratislava. After standing by the road for 50 minutes( in this heat!!!) and 8 cars had stopped but none of them went to Bratislava, we realised we were on a wrong road. So we started to walk to the right road, but my head was sore and shoulders were red, so we had no motivation to walk much and I just put my finger up in a round road to the highway- the most unconveinent place to stop, but we were lucky and got into the car. The driver took us to nearby village and was loading stuff on and off from his van, while we were just sitting and waiting. When he got back to the road we asked to be dropped off, since we wasted so much time with his stops and he didn't go to Bratislava anyways. And once again we found ourselves in the middle of a highway, by this point sooo sick of the sun and heath. Luckily we got into a car after 20min and he drove faaaaaaaast. He had like 180km/h half the way, but once again he didn't go to Bratislava. Next driver spoke hardly any english, but was so exited to meet foreigners. He started to google about Estonia and Tallinn, played us Slovakian folk and pop music, asked us to play Estonian disco music, showed us his family photos etc. Such a nice guy, but as said, that day had lasted already too long for us. He dropped us off 60km from Bratislava and again we were on the highway, this time we had only 10-15minutes before it got dark outside. Thankfully we got into a car very quickly and this time to the right place. We got there 10pm and went out for a drink, but my head for sore so I found a way back to my bed very quickly. Next day we were walking to to castle and around Bratislava the whole day. Such a nice city! I would really like to come back for the weekend and I have night out there, so many nice outside bars and terraces. In the evening we made our way to Vienna, since it is only an hour away.
I had no thoughts about Slovakia before we came here, but I am so positively surprised how nice this country.

Kuid taaskord meil nĂ€kkas ja juba 5 min hiljem jĂ€i auto seisma. LĂ”puks saime hosteli kuskil 10km linnakeskusest, a la ÕismĂ€e sarnases hoodis ja juht viskas meid sinna Ă€ra ehk supper nĂ€kkas meil too pĂ€ev ikka. Kokku trippisime umbes 800km.
JĂ€rgmine pĂ€ev kolisime linnale lĂ€hemale, pĂ€eva veetsime Krakowi peal sĂŒĂŒes ja snĂ€kkides (tundub nagu me oleks paksukeste suvelaagrisse tulnud 😄) Vahepeal sattusime tĂ€iesti juhuslikult ĂŒhte pulma. Ma ĂŒtlesin, et lĂ€hne vaatame ĂŒhte kirikusse sisse ning Ă€kitselt mingi mees juhatas meid ettepoole, et vahekĂ€ik tuleb vabaks teha ning 10min hiljem kĂ”ndis pruut altari ette. Supper lamp.

As said in my last post, we were on our way to Poland. This day ended up lasting forever and ever. We started our day from Kaunas and first car took us only 10km, thankfully a polish truckdriver stopped and took us to Poland. This was a super comfy ride, since I was able to nap in a bed, whilst Annika tried to communicate with the driver and he spoke no english whatsoever. We drove around 4 hours with him and he dropped us off in the middle of a highway, when he had to turn away and we stood there, bit schocked, because firstly it is illegal to hitchhike in Poland and especially on highways since cars are not allowed to stop. And the rainclouds coming towards us made the situation even worse. Thankfully a car stopped only 5 minutes after we raised our hands again. But somehow Annika managed to breake the door of the car and at first I tried to hold my laughter back, but then her and the driver couldn' t fix it, so it wasn' t so funny anymore. Somehow they managed to close it and the driver was suppppppper nice, just said "no problem". He took us to Warschau and made a massive detour for himself and took us to the other side of the city since we said we want to go to Cracow next. This guy was like a gift from heaven that day. Soon we got to a car that took us straight to Cracow and since we were not sure if we are going to make it so far we had no accommodation booked and only one left was 10km outside of the center in a random neighbourhood and the driver took us right infront of the hostel. Altogether we travelled around 800km that day.
Next day we moved to another hostel closer to the city and explored our way around (mostly eating on every other corner. We actually are like fat kids in a summercamp). One moment we accidentally crashed a wedding right before bride started to walk down the aisle. I just said lets check out that church and when we got in some organiser guy told us to go more infront and free the aisle. Was supper random. In the evening we took part of a pub crawl which was a lot of fun.
On Sunday despite our exhaustment we packed our bags again and went to the road. We started in the city, because we couldn't be bothered walking anymore and first car passing us took us in and once again took us to the border of Poland and Slovakia, although his town was way before that. Polish people are sooooooooooooooo friendly and even despite the fact, most who gave us lift didn't speak almost any english, they still tried to communicate with hands and legs and took us way further that they should have. đŸ‡”đŸ‡±

Elu on seiklus/Life is an adventure

Agaaaa anyyyways, esimene pĂ€ev on seljataga.

...if you want it to be an adventure. And I certainly do. Few months ago I decided to make one of my dreams to come true- hitchike through Europe. Thankfully I have a friend who is as crazy as I am and agreed to come with me. I realized I have travelled around the whole world, but seen so little of my own hood, so we chose to make the trip through Eastern Europe and make it to Croatia for my birthday. First time in ages I use backpack again, since normally I am always travelling with a luggage, so this is an ultimate backpacking trip for us 😋 but of course as always with me then things won't go too smootly and my backpack was not delivered on time and finally I recieved it an hour before our trip, after I annoyed the post-office workers for 2 days.

First day was a great success. We made it from Tallinn to Kaunas (Lithuania) in 8.5 hours and with three cars. First car took us to PĂ€rnu and an older fella worried if our phone batteries are full, we shouln't take drinks from strangers etc. Second car was a Nigerian guy living in Latvia and he took us near Riga, but his car was so broke, I thought we're gonna play Flintstones soon. And the third car was a really friendly Lithuanian guy who dropped us off 10meters from our hostel.
Currently we are in a truck on our way to Poland listening polish hits 😄
I anyone can give recommendations or accommodation for/in Krakow, Vienna, Slovakkia,Slovenia and Croatia, we would be very thankful 😊

Last one

Hetkeseis- reis on kohe-kohe lÀbi saamas, kell on 6.27 olen Londoni lennujaamas ootamas lendu Tallinnasse.

Arvatavasti mitte kunagi. Reisimine on minu asi. Eks reisistiil muutub vanusega, kuid pisik jÀÀb alati sisse. Kahjuks vĂ”i Ă”nneks.

Minu lemmik koht siin maailmas on Eesti. Minu jaoks on see vaatamata halvale suusailmale ja sajale muule asjale mis vĂ”iks teisti olla siiski kodu ja koht mida ma armastan. Kuid minnes nĂŒĂŒd patriotismist natuke kaugemale, siis koht mis vĂ”itis minu sĂŒdame vĂ€ga ootamatult ning kuhu kibelen vĂ€ga tagasi on Kolumbia ning samuti on Saksamaa minu jaoks vĂ€ga eriline koht.

    5)    Kuhu jĂ€rgmisena?

Nagu ma ĂŒtlesin, siis mĂ”tteid on mitmeid, eks see kĂ”ik oleneb pangakontost, tujust jms kuhu tuuled mind jĂ€rgmisena viivad.

    6)    Kust ma reisimiseks raha saan?

Lihtne vastus on, et kĂ€in tööl.

Neid kĂŒsimusi kuulen ma pĂ€ris tihti ehk nĂŒĂŒd on vastatud J

Current situation- I am in London, waiting for my flight to Tallinn, it has been 31 hours since I left Mirissa to go to the airport in Colombo and I haven’t slept for 3 nights. Its hard to write something emotional, since the only emotion I feel right now is tiredness. But I try to sum up my trip with few words.
Past month and a half had its ups and downs, thankfully much more ups and I am beyond happy I took the trip.
About the countries then my favourite was Philippines. As I mentioned 10 times already then the people I met there just stayed in my heart, beaches were amazing, food was delicious and overall the vibe was awesome. Only negative I could bring out is that it is more expensive than in most of the Asian countries. I spent 2/3 of my whole trips budget during first two weeks in Philippines. You can imagine my face when I opened my online banking one day.
Secondly Singapore just blew my mind and this was such a surprise to me and I can not wait to go back there, but again the prices are quite high, in some cases even higher than in Europe.
Thirdly I enjoyed both Cambodia and Sri Lanka, especially because they were so cheap, finally. I am so glad I went to both of them and would go back no problem,  but wouldn’t hurry back straight away.

Im also going to answer some questions that I get quite often.
1)    When do you stop travelling?

I think never. Travelling is just who I am and there is not a single day in the year when I am not thinking about travelling. Even when I know it won’t happen anytime soon, I still have several destinations and plans in my head. To me travelling is not going somewhere warm and just chillax by the pool, backpacking is totally different thing. I mean sleeping in a bunk bed with 4-20 strangers in one room, not knowing what tomorrow brings, is not for everyone, but it is for me. Of course my trips will change as I get older (hopefully :D ), but the travelling bug is deep inside me and I think I will never get rid of it.

2)    Why do I travel alone?

My first trip alone was to South- America and it was not supposed to be alone, but back then I decided to take the risk and see what happens and travelling alone gives me the feeling of freedom that I don’t have words to describe. And now I find it hard to imagine having to consider with someone else while travelling, solo is just my thing.

3)    How many countries have I visisted?

As of 6.02.2017 I have been to 34 countries and last year I made a                          promise to myself, that I have to go to 2 new countries every year, close or far, it doesn’t matter, just somewhere new and so far I have done good J

4)    Which one is my favourite country?

Simple answer is Estonia. With all its faults I absolutely love this little place. Tallinn is always my hardest take-off and the most heartwarming landing. But other than my patriotism, then Colombia absolutely stole my heart and I would go back there in a heartbeat. And also Germany has a special place in my heart.

5)    Where next?

As I said I always have several destinations in my head, but it all depends on the size of my bank account and mood when I actually am planning something.

6)    Where do I get money for travelling?
I work for it is another simple answer, but in reality I just prioritise things and to me travelling is where I want to spend all my money. I don’t have fancy brand clothes, jewellery, bags etc and I eat out quite rarely, but instead I have a passport full of stamps, thousands of stories to tell and so many memories that make me smile.

So now all these questions are answered, I think it is time to send this blog for a little holiday with a hope to open it again soon.

Sri Lanka

NOT A GOOD IDEA! Ma olin enamuse ajast seal ainuke naisterahvas, ainuke valge ning terve see tripp kestis ĂŒlikaua, kuna see bussilogu peatus igal pool.
Handunugoda oli vĂ€ga ilus istandus, kus toodeti nt virgin valget teed, mille pisike karp maksis 40 euri, kuid on vĂ€ga vĂ€ga kasulik.
Miks?

At the moment I am sitting in Colombos airport to finish up my Asia trip for this time. About Sri Lanka then I can’t  recollect exactly how this country ended up in my travels list. I just remeber that I was looking the map of Asia for days on a row to decide which places would be cool and cheap to go to. Somehow Sri Lanka popped into my head and when I found cheap flights back to Europe from there then I knew this will be my last stop.  This trip has been much more organised than my South American one, but Sri Lanka was the only place where I had no idea where to go or what to do. At first I booked two nights in Colombo city, but the drive there was a joke by itself already. So my plane landed at 10.30pm  and the price differece between a local bus or a taxi to Colombo city was huge, so I decided to take the bus. Well first of all, most of the ride I was the only female in the bus, secondly I was the only white person in the bus and thirdly they drive like lunatics and the bus took over two hours to get there, so for me, coming from Cambodia, it was 4am by the time I actually got to my hostel. And then they charged me double because of my luggage. Lovely start to Sri Lanka. Anyways Colombo is not like any other Asian big city, because it is not that big and somehow its quite calm, but there is not much to do or see, so one day is more than enough for this place. I stayed for two, because I got in so late and I had to make plans first. In the hostel I asked around and was recommended a little beach town called Hikkaduwa, which is south from Colombo. In the train station I met a swiss guy with whom we travelled together for the next couple of days and the cool part is that his roots are from Sri Lanka, so he knew so much about the food and local stuff and knew to ask things that were not shown for normal tourists. In Hikkaduwa I spent 4 nights. Two days on a row we rented scooters and went to see the beaches around the area, moonstone mining and a little fortress town called Galle and of course had lots of different local food. Hikkaduwa itself is cool for relaxing and surfing, but in my liking it is bit too touristy and renting scooters to see around is highly recommended.
After Hikkaduwa I went to another little beach town called Mirissa, which was bit more down south and I stayed there for two nights. Mirissa is like mini Hikkaduwa, but I liked the vibe over there bit more. First day I was just hanging around and on the second day I hired a tuk-tuk driver who took me to Handunugoda tea plantation. Tea plantation was actually the only thing I really wanted to do in Sri Lanka and I was not dissapointed at all. I got a free tour around the plantation where they showed the whole process of how to make tea. They also had lemongrass, cinnamon, latex and black peppercorn plants there, so all the falvours added to the tea were from there (not sure about the latex tree tho :D ) And at the end there was a tea tasting with more than 30 different flavours. So I would defo recommend the tea tour, it is chill and calm, but really interesting and tasty J
The 3rd of February was my last proper night in Sri Lanka and I really wanted it to be awesome and tbh, it was absolutely amazing. First me and an english girl wanted to get cheap drinks, because in Mirissa you can only buy alcohol from the beach bars, but it is so expensive there (in general, alcohol in Sri Lanka is ridiculously expensive) so we got a scooter and drove to the next town, but got there 10min after the only bottle shop closed, so we just drove back. But was such a funny trip. Then we went with some other people from the hostel to the beach and sat by the bonfire and had few beers before we made our way to to beach party. In Mirissa there is a different party in different bar every night, so there is only one party where everyone go and I think it is awesome, because literally- everyone are at the same party. And it was amazing. We were dancing until the early morning and then watched the sunrise. Perfect ending for the trip!
On my last day I was just hanging at the beach for a while and then had to take the afternoon train back to Colombo already. These 8 days went by wayyyy too fast.
Sri Lanka in general is such a nice place with awesome beaches and I had so much luck with the weather as well, but somehow I don’t fell like it is 100% my place. I mean would come back here any day and naturally there is so much more to do here- I didn’t do any of the north coast, so that’s what I would do next time, but in a weird way I am not as sad to leave here as I was from the Philippines and even Cambodia.
But Sri Lanka is definately a worth visit- lots of culture, interesting food, soo cheap( besides alcohol) and it is not so ruined by the toursim yet.

Cambodia

See on vĂ€ga turistikas koht, kus on kĂŒll rand, kuid see pole isegi vĂ€ga ilus.

Killing fields

Sihanoukville

Ankor Wat

Australia day

Cambodia was awesome. Altogether I spent  8 nights over there and I think this is enough time for Cambodia and I don’t feel like I needed more, but I definately would have liked to have more.
I started from the capital, Phnom Penh. By the time I woke up in my first morning the pain in my leg was quite strong and I went to see the doctor, who said that I have a little infection in my foot and I had to take some cream and antibiotics, so my party trip was on hold for a little while. But they worked quite well and already by next day I could see my leg getting better a little bit.
In Phnom Penh I went to see the S21 prison and the killing fields. To be honest I don’t even know what to say about them. It is such a horrifying story and I am so surprised I never heard about it before.Shortly then in the 70s a guy who ruled Cambodia was absolutely insane and paranoid.  He was blaiming people for spionage and his motto was that better kill an innocent person that to let an enemy go. In few years time he murdered almost 1/3 of the population of Cambodia in the most brutal and torturing way. And we were there to see the rooms, where all the torture has happened and the mass graves where he killed and dropped the bodies. Honestly, the whole day I had such a weird feeling inside. I went there with a german guy from my hostel and after an hour he said, he does not feel like smileing or partying anymore and that’s exactly how I felt, we just sat there in silence the whole way back. I am not going to get into more details, whoever wants can look up the S21 themselves or just ask me.
Afterwards we went to see the royal palace as well, but as said the mood was bit down for the day already.
After 2 nights in Phnom Penh I went to Sihnaoukville, which is a little beachtown by the coast. At first I planned to stay there for few days , but Tyler, my friend who I met in the Philippines and who had lived in Cambodia, said its not a place worth staying and I agree 100%. I had that day to wander around until I waited for my boat and the the day came back from the island and there wasn’t much to do or see there, even the beach wasn’t that nice. Only cool thing was an estonian restaurant, with estonian workers, which was cool, since they were the first estonians I met in this trip.
From Sihnaoukville I took a ferry to Koh Rong Samloem Island, and the plan was to get a tan, lie on the beach and just relax, because it was quite a hippie island with no internet at all, we slept in little huts which only had two walls and lizards and geckos running around, but what really happened was a bad bad weather. When I woke up on my first day there was such a huge storm I thought our hut will fly away. The bad weather continued on my second day as well and on the third I just left. Well it wasn’t all bad tho, because I went to sleep early, read my book and actually got so much rest and relaxing time for the first time in this trip I guess. Leaving Koh Rong Samloem the little boat was sooo over crowed and the waves were so big, I honestly thought at some point that we are going down with that boat. Back in Sihnaoukville for the day to wander around and wait for the night bus to Siem Reap.
The bus itself was amazing, but unfortuantely the AC was so strong that I was shivering the whole night and had hardly any sleep at all. Arriving to Siem Reap it was amazing weather with clear blue skies and 35 degrees, so this was a perfect day to spend by the pool. I actually got really tired around 8-9pm since I had no sleep the night before, but the music in my hostel was sooooo loud and sooo bad that I just had to get out of there and went to a party in pub street and once again had no sleep whatsoever, because at 4am I was picked up to go to the sunrise trip to Ankor Wat temple. Bu the time the trip started I was still so drunk and sooo tired, only thing I could think of was my bed. Ankor Wat was nice, especially during the sunrise, but at the end of the day it was another temple for me, so I had no crazy excitement, maybe the fact I felt so bad had something to do with it as well. We also went to see some other temples around and got back in the afternoon when it was time for my long missed sleep. In the evening I discovered that an estonian girl Ena, whom I met in Australia, we lived in Ireland at the same time and I’ve met her in Estonia as well, is in Siem Reap, so we met up and had a night out together. Small world, huh J  That night I also met Tyler, who randomly had the same dates booked for Siem Reap as me.
The next day was Australia day and also my last day in Cambodia. By the time I woke up at 10 am, half the people were drunk already. So pretty much the whole day was spent by the pool drinking passionfruit mojitos. In the evening I dragged Tyler to the night markets, but that was the only thing that was done besides celebrating that day.

I really enjoyed my time in Cambodia, it went by soooo fast tho. The best part was the food, I got my usual- coconut shake, fresh springrolls and seafood fried rice for 4.5 euros. Honestly I am going to roll back home, because the amounts I’ve been eating in Asia are ridiculous. Cambodia is definately a good place for budget backpackers, since it is so cheap. I am not sure if I would rush back here tho, because I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything, but it is a cool country and I would definately come back for a relaxing, sunny, food holiday J

Singapore

Singapur on lihtsalt imeline.

To continue with my medical story, then it only got worse. After the plane from Philippines to Singapore I felt soooo bad and got myself quite a bad cold with runny nose, fever, sore throat and cough. And if that’s not bad enough then the wounds around my ankle from the scooter accident, didnt want to heal at all until it got to the point that it was actually painful to walk. When I got to Cambodia, I went straight to the doctors where it came out it is infected, so I got antibiotics plus many pills for the cold. Safe to say it has been really calm trip after I left the Philippines.
But about Singapore. I actually didn’t add this place to my travel list, but it seemed that most of the cheap flights from Philippines to Cambodia go through Singapore and I’ve heard from different people that you only need few days to explore the city, so I tought I might as well stay there for 3 nights. But as said when I got there, I felt terrible, went straight to bed and didn’t wake up until morning. Still feeling bad I decided to stay in bed for the day and just rest, but impatient as I am, around 5pm when I felt bit better, I decided to go out and get some donuts. You think I am weird? But I am not. 4 years ago me and Stephen discovered J.CO donuts in Malaisia and safe to say it was love at first bite. Since they only have shops in Asia, then as soon as I got my countries picked, I checked where do they have J. CO :D  After donuts I felt quite okay and kept walking and WOWWWWWW... I am hardly ever speechless and in Singapore it happened. This city is just amazing. Whoever knows me, knows that I don’t like big citys, I prefer small towns to them any day, but there is something magical about Singapore, that I just walked around and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. The next day I also decided to walk around, because in my opinion that’s where you see the most, but I got bit too carried away and my step counter said 33 000 steps and almost 23km by the end of the day. Safe to say I walked from one side of the city to another , so that my feet were about to fall off.
To be honest then there isn’t much to do in Singapore, there is zoo, themepark etc, but nothing so special, besides the Marina Bay Sands of course. Few years back I saw a photo of their infinity pool and it became a dream of mine to go there, but unfortunately I found out that to use the pool , you have to be a costumer of a hotel, where the cheapest rooms start from 240 euros a night and this was bit out of my budget this time L But I am sure I will be back in Singapore one day soon, and then I will go to that pool, have a pina colada and think how awesome life is...this time I only tought how awesome life is, without the pool and pina colada.
Don’t even know what to say about Singapore, can’t put my finger on it why is it so special, but it is.
